Speakers:  The User Group organisers and you!

Topic: “CRM – NAV: Let’s solve all your problems”

Description:

Have you got a current problem in CRM or NAV that you’d like to discuss with the rest of us?  Maybe you’ve just figured out the answer to a particularly tricky issue and you want to save others the same pain? Then this session is for you!  Come prepared to describe the issue, or if you have a USB stick, we can look at it on the projector/laptop, and let’s see if someone has seen this before and has a great solution to share.  We can try and figure out a solution using all the experience in the room.

If nothing else, we can all sympathise together.  There is a reason for the English expression:  A problem shared is a problem halved.

Location: Microsoft New Zealand, Level 12, 157 Lambton Quay Wellington

Topic:  “Dynamics Convergence 2013 summary”

Description:

Imagine attending a conference with 11,000 attendees, all excited about Microsoft Dynamics!  Convergence is a huge conference that caters just for the Dynamics suite of applications and is held every year.   Jaana was lucky enough to attend this year and visit the city of New Orleans and get to rub shoulders with 10,999 other Dynamics people.  She’s going to share what she learned from Convergence, with a slant to NAV (and perhaps Ax).  Of course, the biggest announcements involving changes came from CRM this year.  So we’re going to try and cover what has been announced there and have a great discussion about what the changes might mean for us mere mortals living with CRM on a daily basis.   None of us can put on a Louisiana drawl, so you’ll be spared that.  But the direction CRM is headed in is very exciting and well worth your time to come and find out from some of us that have used the recent Polaris instances what we think and what your organisation can expect from the changes ahead.

This is one of our first sessions where we can all mix together as part of the Dynamics family and meet each other.  See if those NAV people are as scary as you have thought.

Topic: “NAV Reporting – use Account Schedules to build your own reports”

Description:

NAV – Use Account Schedules to build your own reports

There are many ways of getting data out of Dynamics NAV – one way is to create your own Account schedules. Have you tried them yet? Do you get most of this powerful inbuilt reporting tool?

Account schedules can be used to create financial reports in a flexible way and without any development needed. Users can set up various layouts to define the information that they want to extract from the chart of accounts. Reports can be run with flexible filtering and the results can be either printed or exported to Excel.

One of the main purposes of account schedules is to provide a place for calculations that cannot be made directly in the chart of accounts. For example, users can create account schedules to calculate profit margins on dimensions such as departments or customer groups. Additionally, they can filter any G/L entries and G/L budget entries, for example, by net change or debit amount.

By using cost types and cash flow entry accounts in the account schedules, users can build cost accounting reports and cash flow reports.

We are going to look into the different options in Account schedules to give you ideas how to make best use of this tool. We’ll also look into when to best use Account schedules as opposed to NAV report design or BI solutions. There will also be lots of time to discuss your own report ideas if you want. Feel free to send suggestions through prior to the meeting or just bring them along!
