Topic: “TechEd 2012 overview, Introducing ERP solutions”

Description:

We are proud to announce that the Dynamics User Group will now start running sessions on the ERP solutions of Microsoft’s Dynamics stack too! This was the case a few years back and we would like to introduce them again.

In our next session we’ll start by reviewing some of the dynamics sessions that were presented at TechEd 2012 followed by an introduction to the Microsoft ERP solutions.

Several vendors shared their Microsoft Dynamics enthusiasm with the delegates at TechEd this year. The sessions covered several interesting topics, from upgrading from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011, Metro style frontends to CRM 2011, CRM 2011 mobile solutions, and CRM 2011 tips and tricks including converting solutions from managed to unmanaged.

Microsoft’s Dynamics suite offers a range of ERP solutions in addition to CRM. For our first session, we’d like to give you a brief overview of how AX and NAV fit into the history of the Dynamics stack.  We will also provide you with some details on the current product range with particular focus on AX and NAV.  Don’t worry – this is not supposed to be an in-depth accounting software session; calculators can stay at home. We just want to make sure everyone knows what these ERP solutions are about because they will start coming up in future sessions.

Towards the end of the first introductory session we’d like to have your input on ideas for future meetings. The suggestion is to run Technology specific meetings but invite everyone along so they can consider the agenda and decide whether to come for that particular session. There might be topics which will bridge across the solutions as by its nature CRM is a great platform to integrate with the other ERP applications.  This is all open for your input!  You get to shape the future look and feel of our Dynamics User Group nights.  So come along and have a say in how you want your Dynamics User Group to continue in the future.

We have more information than ever before.   Is this a good thing?  Information is losing relevance, potency and coherence, and CRM incorrectly designed only adds complexity and increases these problems.  What do you do when this happens?

We are fortunate enough to get a great speaker with a wonderful insight into IT business along for our April session – Mark Harris.  Mark works as IT Manager for Māori Trustee, previously ERMA, and a VSA volunteer in Tanzania and Vanuatu.    He has been working with CRM at the business end for about 5 years.  General Tom Cruise lookalike, intelligence of Einstein and the speed and cunning of Dan Carter, the body of Sonny Bill, and also known to be full of BS (Mark may have been asked to write this bio himself!).

Come along and find out how to make your information relevant again, and hear about other IT insights Mark has discovered in his fascinating career.  Along with Mark’s inspirational views on IT, you will be equally inspired to try some new CRM tips and tricks by Rex Wessels as an added attraction to the April session’s line up.
